Since first opening in 1923, the Old Rock School has played an important role in the history of Valdese for those leaning towards visual arts, The Rock School Art Galleries offer beautiful art work graces 2 galleries for visitors. Another attraction is the Piedmont and Western Railroad Museum with more than 1,400 square feet of HO Scale Model trains chugging along a detailed scenic depiction of Western North Carolina.
The Old Rock School Auditorium is home of the Bluegrass at the Rock Concert Series held monthly from October to April. Well-known musicians such as Doyle Lawson, Ralph Stanly, Dailey & Vincent, and many more have provided top notch performances to audiences.
