Kanuga was established in 1928 as a mountain retreat for Episcopalian Church groups. It has since evolved into a conference and retreat center and sanctuary that is open for all to enjoy, set on 1,400 peaceful acres. Accommodation options include the inn, which offers traditional hotel-style lodging, historic cottages and rustic guest houses. Additional features of the property include camping sites, rustic fireplaces in common areas, lake access, tennis and pickleball courts, a labyrinth, a workout facility, hiking and biking trails, planned activities guests can participate in, and on-site dining. The property is also home to a popular public mountain biking park, Ride Kanuga.
