Historic Richmond Hill Law School

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Richmond Hill is the family home of the Honorable Richmond Mumford Pearson (1805-1878), an American jurist who served as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court from 1858-1878. Judge Pearson started the law school on his property in 1848 that lasted until his death. Pearson's home, built in 1861, was fully restored in the 1970s and is the centerpiece of the 30-acre Richmond Hill Law School and Nature Park.
