The home showcases period artifacts and exhibits that transport visitors back to the 1830s and tell the Bechtler story. The Bechtler Heritage Center is proud to have the Bechtler press and original gold coins minted by Christoper Bechtler himself, as well as a rifle he made. Architectural details found in the oldest portion of the house include Federal and Greek-Revival mantels and fluted door moldings with corner blocks. Free, self-guided tours.
The center also serves as the headquarters of the NC Gold Trail, which connects more than 27 counties with historical significance from the NC gold rush.
