Attraction
Cherohala Skyway
Adventuring out onto the Skyway, you will be greeted by mountainous, sweeping curves begging to be conquered by motorist and cyclists alike! For a beautiful perspective, travel the 47-mile Cherohala Skyway that connects Hwy 143 from Robbinsville to Hwy 165 in Tellico Plains, TN. Called a “mini-Blue Ridge Parkway,” it follows the crest of the Unicoi Mountains in the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests, thus the name. Visitors can enjoy a picnic above the clouds at one of the many overlooks or hop out of the car and venture out onto the Hooper Bald or Huckleberry Trailheads for a short hike with outstanding, majestic views. The highest elevation is 5,390 ft at Santeetlah Overlook. Nature’s beauty beyond compare!
