Zebulon B. Vance Birthplace State Historic Site
This reconstructed 1790s mountain farmstead is where North Carolina’s "Civil War governor," Zebulon B. Vance, was born. Five farm outbuildings and a slave cabin offer a glimpse into life on a large mountain farm in the early 19th century. Guided tours of the house are offered hourly. Stop by the Visitor Center to borrow a map for a self-guided tour of the outbuildings.
Discover life on the farm and on the battlefield, from the 1790s to the Civil War, with our living history events held throughout the year.
