Camden County Heritage Museum & Historic Jail
Come explore Camden County's history through arrowheads, varsity jackets, pottery, photographs, military uniforms, census records and much more! Camden's history, from the early Native American groups like the Yeopim and Poteskeet to the Colonial era as well as the Civil War period through World War II are interpreted through stories, artifacts and talented docents. Learn about the construction of the Dismal Swamp Canal and Moses Grandy, a slave born in the late 1700s who years later gained his freedom and became a prominent abolitionist. The Historic Jail is furnished to resemble an old sheriff's office along with the original bull pen. The Museum & Historic Jail are a family-friendly destination where adults and kids can find something they enjoy.
