What is RSS?
RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” It’s a
popular format that lets you get updates called “feeds” delivered
straight to you. It’s the content you want, without your having
to constantly check the same websites for new information.

What is a Feed?
A feed is a regularly updated summary of web content, along with
links to the full versions of that content. Various web sites now
allow you to subscribe to their “feeds” which is simply
a list of their latest headlines (requested by you) with links to
the full articles.
Important: You must use a feed reader in order to subscribe
to website feeds.
What are Feed Readers?
Also known as RSS readers or news readers or aggregators, they are
websites or tools that allow you to sign up for various feeds from
news sources, blogs or other web sites. The readers or aggregators
collect all the headlines and summaries in one place so that you don’t
have to hunt around to find what’s new.
After you have subscribed to an RSS feed, headlines will begin to flow to your reader. When you see a headline that interests you, you just click it to view the full article.
Examples of Readers
Many portal sites such as AOL, Yahoo! and Google have easy-to-use
RSS features. Many web browsers also have news reader features built
in.
